One last post on fabric shopping in London. Although there is a cluster of fabric and craft stores within a few blocks on Berwick Street this one, in my opinion, is the one not to miss.
No.47 Berwick Street - SoHo
Mon-Fri 9:30-6:00 Sat 10:30-6:00
I loved this store! It was neat and very well organized with a fun mix of vintage and new fabrics.
There was a lot of love in this store. Kilim rugs covered the hardwood floors
and antiques were incorporated into attractive displays.
A nice selection of ribbon and fun old button cards.
Liberty prints and block prints rolled on tubes.
I loved that they offer antique linens, quilts and hard to find feed sacks for sale.
You won't find patterns, books or models here so you may want to take your project pattern and yardage requirements with you, but if you are like me you'll be inspired by the colors and textures of a beautifully curated collection of the natural fibers found here.
One fun find for me were these darling mother of pearl shirt buttons that came in the tiniest red and white box. They weren't really selling the boxes but when I asked if I could have the box with the buttons they said, "sure". (I'm sure they thought I was weird).
When I got home I wrapped some of the trim I bought at VV Rouleaux around cardboard tags and tied it to the box filled with buttons for a sweet little gift for my sewing friends. (Gosh I wish I'd bought more).
Encourage one another,
