If your weekend finds you with some free time I have the perfect BBC Masterpiece television series for you. (I watched it on Netfix but you can also find it here).
Season 2 starts next Sunday night so you may want to get caught up by watching the eleven episodes of Season 1 before then.
Adapted from a novel by Emile Zola and set in the 1870's, The Paradise is a super store set out to squash the towns mom and pop stores that share the same street. Much of the drama takes place in the Ladies Wear department of this opulent department store with its boxes of buttons, rolls of silk, millinery flowers and stacks of colorful satin ribbon. The displays are wonderfully gilded and I think anyone who sews will enjoy seeing the sets and the references to sewing.
I found The Paradise to be the perfect sewing room companion.
