Last night as I was being blown away yet again by Joanna's Gaines' brilliance on Fixer Upper I spotted this.
It's the tablescape on the seventeen foot table she designed for the Barn-dominium. It's the place mats caught that my eye.
Since we have several rolls of that same cotton toweling that Joanna's place mats were made from I decided to whip up a couple and leave work early for a photo shoot.
Since the toweling is already hemmed along the long edges all you need to do is cut it into lengths and hem the two cut ends. I like my place mats a little wider since I usually use a large charger as well as several pieces of flatware on each side of my plates. About twenty two inches allows for shrinkage and a one inch hem on each end.
Do you remember when Joanna used old books as chargers in season 2? I've been dying to try that.
Imagine a teachers retirement luncheon or a book club gathering. How fun!
The whole purpose of this blog post is to show you how easy these place mats are to whip up but I always seem to get a bit carried away with the endless place setting possibilities.
Have you also noticed how Joanna always turns the books so the pages are facing out? (No I'm not a stalker). =)
You can find this fabulous cotton toweling at Strawberry Patches or online here.
