For me party plans usually start with a theme. Whether it be the simple selection of a particular color or a full blown THEME, for me starting with a theme just makes the planning process a whole lot easier.
This years shop hop theme was actually conceived a year ago as I drove to the wrap up meeting for last years shop hop. (Why do most of my ideas seem to come to me while driving or in the shower)?
We could do a camping theme and call it
and wrap our goody bags like little Hobo sacks - with sticks for carrying.
And in those Hobo sacks we could place all the fix'ns to make lanyards with whistles because, after all, what's a camp out without a lanyard and a whistle to scare away the varmints?
We could even provide a make it and take it an Arts and Crafts area for campers to make their lanyards before hitting the trail and have mountain folk strolling and strumming their guitars while singing camp fire songs.
We could decorate water bottles (pond water) with plastic frogs
and serve hot dogs and trail mix and S'Mores to our hungry campers.
The staff camp counselors could all wear matching camp shirts with khaki pants and blow their whistles when campers completed their passports (that is, when they weren't busy leading campers in silly camp songs).
We could have a scavenger hunt for prizes and pitch a tent in the forest and pretend it's the chuck wagon.
Campers would all receive a free pattern for our pillow
or they could purchase a kit for our tree skirt - both made from the same quilt block.
