We're down to the wire as they say. The shop hop is next weekend and every waking hour seems to be filled with last minute preparations. Don't get me wrong. I love doing these little details that helps make a party, well, a party!
Before I give you my final clue as to the theme (the big reveal will be on Thursday) I wanted to show you what I've been up to when I'm not happily gluing and cutting and stuffing and sewing for the hop.
My friend and I continue to walk every morning - Monday through Friday at 5:30am. I've lived in Bakersfield all my life and never knew there was so much wild life right here in the city (except for those few years in the late sixties, but that's a story for another time).
This is our trail all dressed in green for spring. I doubt a day goes by that we don't comment on the beauty.
We feel so blessed to have such a pretty spot to walk each morning.
I feel so blessed to have the perfect walking partner.
We're seeing more wildlife now than ever. We're thinking we've become more aware and wonder how much we've walked past and not noticed before.
Spring brings them out too, I'm sure.
lots of bunnies - we call them Side Butt bunnies because their tails are crooked and off to one side. (Sorry - early morning humor)
Big strange birds
that are hard to get close enough to in order to get a good picture before they fly away (wonder if the people in that house across the street were expecting a baby)
or in the case of this roadrunner - run away. Beep, beep.
We see squirrels eating their greens
and an occasional bob cat (stalking the bunnies and squirrels)
and lately more fox than we can count. We see them before we even get out of our cars!
This litte girl we call Gimp because she has a hurt front paw. aww
Here's a youngster getting ready to get away from us by going down a hole - we named him Junior.
Why does the fox cross the road?
To get to food left by well meaning humans.
(I know. Please don't lecture)
We've got some wild life of our own going on right here at home.
and a few minutes later...
For those of you who wonder why we put up with Lucy and her crazy antics and wonder why we don't just throw the darned cat outside I'll tell you. Seeing the big, ear to ear smile on my normally very stoic husbands face when he watches her do her tricks (yes, we're teaching her tricks but more on that later) is worth any mess she might make. We would both be heart broken if anything were to ever happen to her. So we keep her inside safe from prowling neighborhood cats and speeding cars.
Before I give you the third and final shop hop clue let's review:
Stacks of sticks
Piles of frogs
A box full of whistles. Whistles? humm...
Any guesses as to what our shop hop theme is this year?
I'll be back on Thursday for the big reveal and to show you our TWO projects we've made using the block pattern used by all ten shops.
See you Thursday, but until then...
Encourage one another,
