We've been busy here at the Patch preparing for Susan Branch's visit on Thursday.
I told myself I wasn't going to stress over this but I couldn't stand not fluffing and puffing a bit for the party.
Bill always scolds me for spending the time cleaning when everything will just get turned upside down the moment everyone arrives, but truth be told it's the foofing I love the most. So I do it and just don't tell him.
One thing I've been working on is a special gifty for Susan. If you read her blog you know how much she loves her kitties and her boy kitty, Jack is such a love that I thought I'd try and sculpt him from wool roving as a surprise.

He has such distinctive markings
a bigger than life personality
I'd like you to meet Jack's Mini Me
But truth be told, we don't want to control the crowd because this is a Girlfriend Party of EPIC PROPORTIONS and Girls Just Wanta Have Fun so there will be Mimosas and champagne and bitty bites of sweets from Susan's cookbooks.

As I write this I find myself surprisingly weepy. I guess seeing it come together here makes it seem all the more real. Having Susan here along with all of her girlfriends is such a special treat for me. I can't remember when I've had more fun planning a party. When Susan politely suggested I might think about selling tickets to help get an idea of how many would be here I said I could never charge our girlfriends to come meet her.
My only request is that you wear your tiaras and bring lots of patience because you may be here a while - I know the line will be looong.
Here's a sneak peak at what I'll be wearing. Don't worry about feeling ridiculous in your tiara because no one will look more ridiculous than me in my pink tutu
We've had calls from real housewives of Orange County, as far north as Sacramento and all the way from the coast inquiring about our party and whether or not we'll have enough books. Don't you worry your pretty little head about books.
We have plenty.
2014 calendars too
I try and follow Susan's philosophy when running my quilt shop: to provide a happy place for women to gather and feel safe while connecting with their past, their memories and to one another. A place to feel inspired and encouraged.
I know when I see Sue and Joe pull up in front of the store in their A Fine Romance van I'm going to loose it.
I just know it.
So Thursday if you see tears in my eyes, know that they are tears caused by pure joy, love, the magic of the moment and maybe just a little pink glitter dust.
Encourage one another,
