Here is a simple project that makes use of those leftover 2 1/2" Jelly Roll strips.
Along with a strip of fabric that measures 2 1/2" X 44" you will need:
1 - 1 1/2" felt circle
A button for the center of your flower
Pin back
Assorted leaves and ribbons (optional)
Here's what you do:
Fold the strip in half along the long edge but don't press in a crease. Gather.
You'll want your gathers fairly close together.
Roll the gathered strip around your finger, folded edge out
and hot glue it to the felt circle.
Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the circle and carefully place the flower into the hot glue. Use a chopstick or pencil to make sure all the raw edges are securely glued. Be careful not to burn your fingers.
Glue or sew the pin back in place.
Glue or sew a button in center of the flower if you'd like.
Add ribbon and embellishments as desired.I just hot glue them to the back.
(The flower above was made from velvet and works well as long as the velvet isn't too heavy).
This is the one we made in Bernina Club a couple of months ago.
These make quick and inexpensive flowers for headbands
and can be completed in just a few minutes for next to nothing. After all, they're made from just 2 1/2" of fabric and some old stuff we have laying around for moments like this.
Attach a flower to create a pretty package.
The flower can be used later as a brooch or hair clip.
It's all in the details. It doesn't really matter what is in the box when the wrapping is so pretty, does it.
I hope you'll try some and share your creations with us. I love hearing from you!
