I've decided New Years is one of my favorite holidays. No pressure to do anything but reflect on the past twelve months and celebrate the up coming new year. A clean slate. A new start. A chance to do better and be better. Although I don't really make resolutions (I prefer to call them goals) I do make a list of what I'd like to accomplish in the new year. I believe the first step in making goals a reality is to share them. So here is what I resolve for 2009:
1. To sharpen my buying practices in these uncertain economic times. My goal is this year, as it's always been; to be here for you with the best products available to the quilter and sewer. Now with the economy as it is, it is even more important to sharpen my buying skills so we can continue to continue.
2. Continue my quest for better photos. I want to take more classes in photography and improve my blog photos. I have a new interest in photography and want to master my camera.
3. Blog more regularly. Wow, who knew that I would start a blog in 2008? This has truly become a life changing event in my life. It's changed the way I see the world and changed my relationship with friends and customers. It's taught me the importance of leaving comments to others and I can't tell you how much your comments, no matter how brief, mean to me. Blogging also has added a pant size to my figure. I need to balance #3 with #5! lol
4. Improve my communication skills. This has always been a problem for me both in my private and professional life. (As I reread this post I find it interesting that this is all I have to say on this subject!) = )
5. To take better care of myself. To get regular check ups and start exercising regularly. To get back to better, healthier eating. To cut out the sugar!!
6. Make more time for creativity. Whether it be blogging, taking pictures, taking classes from Cindy to learn to create beautiful layouts, or creating something with fabric, there is nothing more satisfying for me than to do something creative. It feeds my soul and energizes me. I resolve to do something creative EVERYDAY!!
7. Start and finish those Christmas stockings I resolved to make in 2008. My friend Mary C makes the MOST incredible stockings - I mean it - and she has inspired me to want to make them for my family.
Gosh, just listing these things is empowering. What do you resolve to do in 2009?
Now I'm taking my camera on a long brisk walk.
